Leon Simon was the Zionist, who briefed Balfour into the Palestine case.

Sir Edwin Montagu, the only Jewish member of the British Cabinet, writes in a secret memorandum: "Zionism has always seemed to me a mischievous political creed...it seems to be inconceivable... that Mr. Balfour should be authorised to say that Palestine was to be reconstituted as the national home for the Jewish people...I assume that it means that Mohammedans and Christians are to make way for the Jews, and that the Jews should be put in all positions of preference."

November 2nd, 1917

Dear Lord Rothschild,

I have much pleasure in conveying to you, on behalf of His Majesty's Government, the following declaration of sympathy with Jewish Zionist aspirations which has been submitted to, and approved by, the Cabinet.

"His Majesty's Government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country."

I should be grateful if you would bring this declaration to the knowledge of the Zionist Federation.

Balfour Declaration


1919 Henry King and Charles Crane, US members of International Commission of Inquiry, proceed to Middle East alone after failure of Britain and France to join the Commission set up to examine the wishes of the people of Palestine. The findings of the King-Crane Commission were kept secret for 3 years and were not published until 1947.

1922 US Congress endorses Balfour Declaration. League of Nations Council approves Mandate for Palestine without consent of Palestinians. First British census of Palestine shows total population of 757,182 (11% Jewish).

King-Crane Commission

1937 Publication of Royal (Peel) Commission's Report recommending partition of Palestine into Jewish and Arab states. British Mandate Government dissolves the Arab Higher Committee and all national Committees, deports six of its members.

1939 The "MacDonald White Paper" disclaims any intention to create a Jewish state, and places restrictions on Jewish immigration and land purchase and envisages an independent state in Palestine within 10 years.

Peel Commission


Irgun, shorthand for Irgun Tsvai Leumi, also spelled Irgun Zvai Leumi), Hebrew for "National Military Organization", was a clandestine militant Zionist group (what nowadays would be commonly known as terrorist group) that operated in the British Mandate of Palestine from 1931 to 1948. In Israel, this group is commonly referred to as Etzel, an acronym of the Hebrew initials. In the time in which the Irgun operated, often people referred to the Irgun as. The Irgun was called a terrorist organization by the British authorities as well as several Jewish organizations, such as the Jewish Agency, Haganah and Histadrut. Its political association with Revisionist Zionism rendered it a predecessor movement to Israel's right-wing Herut party.

If we speak today of "Jews", then it concerns not at all the old Judaeer here. Because they belong to the missing persons trunks of Israel. If thus the leadership in Israel, native from Europe, like also the members of the German Central Council of the Jews criticism as "anti-Semitic" insult , then they lodge a complaint a blood affiliation, which does not exist. And they are on very smooth ice the Shemiten - those are the Arab neighbours, that are treated by the leaders of Israel like humans of second class. Who thus acts here "anti-Semitic"?
